MARTIN S. AWERBACH is Board Certified as a Real Estate Lawyer by The Florida Bar. He has an extensive background in real property law and is particularly knowledgeable and experienced in the law of real estate titles and title insurance. Unlike most real estate lawyers, Mr. Awerbach primarily practices real estate and commercial litigation. He is often retained as a consultant, and has testified in both the state and federal courts as an expert on real estate, real property title law, and title insurance law. Mr. Awerbach received his baccalaureate degree from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his Juris Doctorate from The Rutgers University School of Law in Camden New Jersey.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Awerbach was Vice President and Associate Regional Counsel for Safeco Title Insurance Company's southeast region, consisting of Florida and five (5) other southern states. Before that, he was a Florida State Counsel for USLIFE Title Insurance Company. In 1986, he became a sole practitioner and started the firm that expanded to become Awerbach & Cohn, P.A.

Mr. Awerbach is a member of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section, The Florida Bar Real Property Problem Study Committee, The Florida Land Title Association Claims Prevention, Avoidance and Education Committee, the American Bar Association Title Insurance Litigation Committee and has been a member and past chair of The Real Property Law Committee of the Clearwater Bar Association. He is a frequently requested lecturer at continuing education seminars for attorneys and title insurance professionals, and is co-author of several publications, including Examining and Evaluating Title to Real Property in Florida and Florida Title Insurance.
